How we work in Hampstead

Every floor is different. In Hampstead, with mostly large Edwardian detached houses, Georgian terraces, and Victorian semis, we regularly find floors that have been sanded before -- sometimes well, sometimes not. We assess the floor before starting and adjust the approach to what is in front of us. There is no shortcut that works reliably.

The process for a typical job is: secure any loose boards, fill gaps, sand through the grits in sequence, check by hand for any marks, and apply finish in coats. We do not rush any stage. The preparation is what makes a floor hold up for years rather than needing attention again in two.
